The most distinctive building in the area is the Wroclaw Museum of Contemporary Art. The cylindrical, free standing air raid shelter became the reference point for the office building design, which is why the façade is rounded and glass.

Silver Forum – an office building designed by SRDK STUDIO

PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Silver Forum echoes the form of the area’s most characteristic building, the bunker designed by Richard Konwiarz, now the Wroclaw Museum of Contemporary Art. The cylindrical air raid shelter served as the reference point for the office building designed by SRDK STUDIO. Project challenges included:

  • acoustic comfort for building users

  • ensuring that interiors receive daylight

  • flexibility in arranging space to meet the changing needs of the rental market

PROJECT FEATURES

The Silver Forum office building was designed to address business needs optimally and economically, both in standard requirements and in specialized functional programs. The seven-story office building is arranged in the shape of an asymmetrical horseshoe that frames an internal courtyard accessible through passages and reception areas. The composition is accentuated from Robotnicza Street by a striking corner formed by two glazed towers. Anti-reflective glass, steel and façade cladding highlight the modern form and its representative character.

  • Acoustic curtain

The seven-story Silver Forum building features a curved glass façade at the front. Behind the aesthetic and representative glazing lies a functional and technological solution – a barrier that soundproofs the building. It’s the first glass acoustic curtain of this scale in Wroclaw.

  • I see the light

The appropriate depth of the building tracts ensures flexible space planning and daylight access. Properly placed communication cores allow for maximum use of leasable area while minimizing common space.

  • A tree at the center

An impressive tree is placed at the very heart of the development - a white willow with a trunk circumference of 129 cm. Its lushness turned out to be the result of being rooted directly on a water main – the tree was literally drinking from the water flow, as revealed by an analysis of unusually high water bills. Today the willow is the highlight of the atrium.

  • Adapted to needs

The building’s wide span structure combined with advanced technological solutions enables quick adaptation of the space to the changing needs of clients. User comfort is enhanced by openable windows, a highly valued feature.

  • Train to heaven

During the opening of Silver Forum, the city authorities proposed artistically connecting this part of the district. This coincided with Professor Andrzej Jarodzki’s idée fixe of placing a vertical train in the urban space under the slogan Train to Heaven. We decided to finance the idea”, says Kazimierz Śródka. “Our surprise grew when we discovered that the Silver Forum site once housed the Linke Hofmann factories, which produced rolling stock from the mid nineteenth century. The Train to Heaven concept fortunately aligned with both the symbolism and the history of the place.

  • A new chapter

In 2023 the Silver Forum office building was purchased by United Benefits Holding, marking the company’s first real estate acquisition in Poland. The firm plans to optimize the property in line with ESG and mobility standards, thereby leveraging its potential for value growth. UBS President Michael Klement stated: “We are delighted to acquire Silver Forum, an attractive commercial and office property in Wroclaw.
